About

cropped-cropped-blairsiciliabigMy attraction to art started at a young age, by drawing everything. The houses I interpreted looked like houses, even chimneys vertically extended from sloped roofs. At age four, I was taken to an outdoor art exhibit in Boston.

Our family had an extensive collection of art books, and they gave broader insight into how others handled subjects. When I was fourteen, my career in portraits began by capturing the likeness of a friend who ran for class president. I’ve always been interested in people as subjects–conveying complex characteristics, different from my own.

Life sometimes floats you in different directions. I spent one-year painting portraits in Seattle from 1977-1978 in Pioneer Square. When the money ran out, I took a regular job and didn’t really return to portrait painting until my wife and I took the BIG plunge and moved to France in 1993 with minimal funds and no employment prospects. Since that time, I’ve been painting portraits in Europe on a regular basis.

Every single client, I feel, is a unique opportunity to reflect precise personality on canvas. I hope to share my talents and enthusiasm on your portrait project. The studio in Stimigliano, is located in a pedestrian hill town just north of Rome.
